Anaheim CA. (May 8, 2018) – The Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel & Water Playground has recently completed a $6 million dollar renovation of 111 guestrooms in their Building #1 Tower. The redesigned guestrooms feature a contemporary, retro-inspired look circa 1965 in honor of the year Howard Johnson Anaheim first opened its doors. The rooms include a soothing resort blue wall coverings, family-centric design touches, and vintage Disney themed art on the walls. Technology improvements include speedy Wi-Fi access points in every guestroom and the Enseo TV entertainment system with Netflix and Pandora streaming. The guestrooms and suites are all now available including connecting and bunk bed room choices.
Jonathan Whitehead, Howard Johnson Hotel General Manager said, “Our goal with the redesign is to provide our guests with a delightful experience and an updated retro-style guestroom space that is both familiar and comfortable. The rooms all have the state-of-the-art conveniences, with a few added family fun amenities. The Hojo Anaheim mission is to create the idealized family vacation atmosphere reminiscent of the 1960’s, a place where families feel free to play together and reconnect. Our guests consistently say that we are a favorite part of their Anaheim vacation----and that’s a distinction that our entire staff cherishes, and one that we strive to live up to everyday!”
The Howard Johnson Hotel is one of Anaheim’s original hotels and thrives on its updated, yet mid-century modern appeal. The 296-room hotel opened its doors in 1965, ten years after Disneyland Park opened to the public. The hotel was designed by world-renowned architect William L. Pereira (designer of the famous Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco and the “Space Age” themed building at LAX).
The Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel & Water Playground is located directly across the street from Disneyland Park®. This unique property encompasses six-acres, features six buildings with interior corridors, and is surrounded by well-maintained gardens. It also offers two water play areas; the Garden Pool and the popular “Castaway Cove,” a pirate-themed water playground with a 30-foot pirate ship, 200 gallon drench bucket, waterslides and water cannons.
Whitehead noted, “This redesign is the first phase of an expansive renovation of our guestrooms. We expect the next renovation of an additional 100 guestrooms to be completed in 2019. However, we are consistently making hotel-wide improvements year-round. We are also adding an array of extraordinary classic family fun experiences designed to delight our guests for years to come.”
Part of the Wyndham Hotel Group, The Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel & Water Playground is a 296-room mid-century modern classic family vacation hotel located directly across from the Disneyland Resort®. It is an eight-time national winner of ‘Best for Families in the U.S.” recognition from Tripadvisor.com and “Best of the Best” winner from Howard Johnson by Wyndham.
