Goat Yoga finds a home near the Magic Kingdom at Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel
Sept. 24, 2018 (ANAHEIM, Calif.) — Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel is partnering with California Goat Yoga to bring the newest yoga trend to the Disneyland Resort area. With 13 acres of gardens and quiet courtyards, the hotel provides the perfect setting for practicing yoga asanas while interacting with Nigerian dwarf goats. The first event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27. (www.majesticgardenhotel.com) (www.californiagoatyoga.com)
“We love that goat yoga is a family friendly activity and we love sharing the goats with youth,” said Alex Mullenax, owner of California Goat Yoga and Mullenax Ranch, Tehachapi, Calif. “Our yoga program is unique for the fact we use only baby Nigerian dwarf goats in our sessions. Our smallest are smaller than a house cat, and our oldest babies are well-mannered and love to snuggle.”
The beloved Disneyland goats, who used to live in the Big Thunder Ranch area of the park, left the park in 2016 to retire at a Murrieta farm when their home in the park was permanently closed to make way for “Star Wars” land. With their departure the only goats left were Animatronic ones on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Mullenax said the Disney herd help foster her love of goats.
“My experience with the goats at Disneyland Resort is a major factor in why I got goats when I married and moved to a rural community,” Mullenax said. “It’s such a thrill to be coming full circle in a way by bringing this event to Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel.”
“We are always looking to build immersive guest experiences and enhance the magic of a trip to Disneyland,” said Cindy Smith, director of sales and marketing at the hotel. “Baby goats combined with the health benefits of yoga we think will be a big hit with our guests.”
The outdoor class will be held in the hotel’s interior gardens and the goats are contained in the class area by portable fencing. Yoga mats are provided, and the class allows time for a photo session with the goats at the end. Advance reservations for the class are $37 per person and can be booked at https://www.californiagoatyoga.com/signup. There are two sessions available on Oct. 27, at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Located on 13 lush acres off South Disneyland Drive, the hotel has 489 spacious rooms and suites, more than 26,000 square feet of meeting and outdoor function space, a pool, full service restaurant and bar, a deli and marketplace. The crown jewel of theme parks is just a half-mile away accessed by the hotel’s free Dream Machine shuttle and Disneyland Resort Park Hopper® Tickets can be purchased in the hotel lobby from the Disney® Desk (translation: no lines). The hotel has the largest guest rooms in the area making it a popular choice for family and business travel.
