Art On The Walk Gives Opportunities to Orange County Artists in On-Going Program Showcased Throughout the Center

(ANAHEIM, CA) –Located in the resort district, flanked by Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim GardenWalk invites the community to explore the artwork of local artists and non-profit organizations with its on-going program, Art On The Walk. Art On The Walk showcases local Orange County artists, whose work is displayed for a period of months, exhibited in store fronts and common area spaces throughout the center, including the stairs leading to the Upper Level. The Art On The Walk program allows artists to create awareness about their work, while also providing an opportunity to sell their art and learn about the retail side of the art business. GardenWalk’s marketing staff assists participants with promotion and advertising strategies, and social media exposure. Quarterly art events feature 30 to 40 artists conducting live art demonstrations. Anaheim GardenWalk provides store front and mural space at no charge to the artists or non-profit organizations, and does not take a commission.

“The idea is to get art into the community where people can see it, experience it and react to it," said Robin Weeks-Wynne, Senior Director of Marketing & Tourism of Anaheim GardenWalk. “Anaheim GardenWalk lends itself to art displays because of the way the center is laid out and its tenant focus on entertainment. These eye-catching and thought-provoking works are perfect for the center as well as the community we serve. Anaheim GardenWalk is more than a shopping center, it is an arts and entertainment center. The marketing platform we provide artists allows them to profile their art, and gives them the opportunity to engage with our customer base of local residents and tourists.”

Anaheim GardenWalk was recently named “Best Public Art In One Place” by Orange Coast Magazine. Featured in the premier lifestyle magazine’s annual celebration of Orange County’s “Best of,” Anaheim GardenWalk is celebrated as the largest local aggregation of cooler-than-cool public art.

In addition to art exhibits, Anaheim GardenWalk hosts many pop-up galleries and temporary art tenants, with some remaining as longer term tenants. The center is well-known in Orange County as being a supporter of the arts and giving artists partnering opportunities. Some of these pop-ups and partnerships include:

S. Preston Art + Designs will be opening a gallery at Anaheim GardenWalk on Sept. 1. The gallery will be located between Sunglass Hut and P.F. Chang’s. This baseball and sports art gallery will feature a collection of all 30 MLB ballparks illustrated by S. Preston’s minimalist style. Locals and tourists alike get the opportunity to learn about the ballparks via the art. The gallery will also offer other original sports illustrations by S. Chapman University uses one of the storefronts at GardenWalk as studio space and gallery alike. Here junior and senior studio art students have the opportunity to realize large scale projects and installations and to showcase work in exhibitions they also curate. The function of the space as studio and gallery creates a lively environment that is constantly changing, functioning in one week as the safe haven and catalyst for a student’s long term project and in the next as a proper gallery open to the visitors of GardenWalk.

Servite High School created a 27’ wide by 14’ high exhibit that features a variety of art techniques and genres from 100 visual art students in celebration of the school’s 60th anniversary.

The historical statue of Kate and Ella is located in the Kate & Ella Court on the Katella side of the property. Kate and Ella were the daughters of the Rea family, early settlers of Anaheim. Highly recognized throughout the city of Anaheim, this iconic statue was created by artist Ramon G. Velazco.

House of Blues Anaheim features a display of American folk art, street and contemporary artwork including outsider art by Glenn Fox, Peter Wood and Ruth Mae Mccrane, as well as two beautiful art pieces created by local artists Audrey Kawasaki and Johnny “KMNDZ” Rodriguez.
