8 Best Places to Experience Snow in Orange County
Oh, the weather outside is delightful! With warmer temperatures, you may not think of Orange County as the go-to for snow days. But there’s a flurry of fun planned in and around Anaheim. Get your mittens! Here’s where to experience snow in Orange County.
1. Main Street U.S.A., Disneyland Resort
Capture the splendor of the season at the Disneyland Resort. Sleeping Beauty’s castle glistens with icicles and snow-capped peaks at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. It’s here where a nightly holiday spectacular, the “Believe...In Holiday Magic” fireworks show delights guests with pyrotechnics and over 80,000 twinkling lights. A special surprise is the sprinkling of snow falling upon guests on Main Street. The holiday season at the Happiest Place on Earth runs November 8, 2019-January 6, 2020.
2. Knott’s Merry Farm
The streets of Calico are filled to the brim with holiday charm. Knott’s Berry Farm kicks off Merry Farm, its holiday celebration combining traditional favorites and brand-new thrills. Enjoy the adrenaline-pumping attractions and the heart-warming live entertainment, culminating with nightly snow in Ghost Town. Christmas events run select days November through January.
3. Snowland at Great Wolf Lodge
Celebrate the howl-idays at Great Wolf Lodge November 30, 2019-January 5, 2020. The indoor water park turned wonderland features snowy decor and tons of winter-themed activities. Dine in a life-sized gingerbread house, visit with Santa Claus and enjoy North Pole University activities.
4. 25th Annual Nutcracker Tree Lighting and Holiday Village
Downtown Anaheim celebrates its 25th annual Nutcracker Tree Lighting and Holiday Village on December 7. The all-day festivities include international food fair, holiday shopping and family-friendly activities kicking off at 10 am. Enjoy the free snow play area, crafts and live entertainment before the tree lighting ceremony at 6 pm.
5. Winter Wonderfest at Discovery Cube Orange County
Study the science of snow at the Discovery Cube Orange County’s Winter Wonderfest. Explore the physics of fun while tubing down the 75-foot snowy ramp. A snow-play area allows for arctic architects to build snowmen and explore cooler temperatures.
6. WinterFest OC
There’s I-C-E in the O-C! The OC Fair & Event Center hosts the annual Winter Fest OC December 19, 2019-January 5, 2020. Enjoy the ice tubing slides, outdoor ice skating rinks, snow play areas and nightly snow fall included with admission. Engaging themed exhibits, holiday character meet-and-greets and food offerings round out the fun!
7. Snow Day Fullerton
The city of Fullerton is already predicting a snowstorm at Brea Dam Park in January 2020. The annual flurries bring sledders, snowmen builders and snowball throwers to the community event. Register for fun in advance through the city’s Parks and Rec website.
8. Snow Days with the Critters
Head to the Santa Ana Zoo December 14-15 to chill with the critters from 11-2 pm daily. Winter decorations, games, activities, and stories are part of the fun planned for human attendees. The animal inhabitants aren’t left out in the cold though; they’ll get their own icy treats to enjoy the celebration.
