In 1974, Chinese farmers discovered over 8,000 buried terra cotta sculptures dating back to the 3rd century BC, depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China." If there is one thing that I want to make sure to see in my lifetime, it's the Terra Cotta Warriors from China. These incredible warriors are considered the 8th wonder of the world.
I don't see myself traveling to China anytime soon to see the remarkable site where these warriors were uncovered, but luckily, the Terra Cotta Warriors are returning to Bowers Museum, right here in Orange County!"
Starting October 1 through March 2012, Bowers Museum will display many objects that have never been allowed to travel outside of China in an exhibit called Warriors, Tombs and Temples: China's Enduring Legacy. This exhibit will be making only two U.S. stops and the Bowers Museum is the only venue presenting the exhibition on the West Coast.
The world-renowned Bowers Museum is located in the heart of Orange County in Santa Ana. At Bowers, you will be immersed in a beautiful and peaceful setting where you can explore the various international exhibits, participate in a lecture, art or writing workshop, or attend a classic film and discussion. The on-site restaurant, Tangata, is one of my favorite places to eat. For families, there is also a fun children's museum, Kidseum, located just one block south."
So if you are looking for something to do on a rainy day or just an idea for a half-day activity while vacationing here in Anaheim OC, spend some quality family time at the Bowers museum. And starting this October, you won't want to miss this opportunity of a lifetime to see the Terra Cotta Warriors right here in Orange County!
