COSTA MESA, CA (Dec. 5, 2016) – Chef Pascal Lorange is bringing his acclaimed Crudo restaurant to Orange County’s robust dining, shopping and entertainment scene by South Coast Plaza and Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

Crudo, which specializes in Mediterranean cuisine with Japanese-inspired touches, is scheduled to open in summer 2017 at The Westin South Coast Plaza. It will be the second location for Crudo following its debut at The Village at Pacific Highland Ranch in San Diego in August.

The Belgium-born Lorange comes from a family of four generations of chefs and has cooked in Michelin-star kitchens for more than 25 years. Chef Lorange served as the private chef for Spanish singer Julio Iglesias and in that role cooked for numerous dignitaries, including Oscar de la Renta, Princess Stephanie of Monaco, Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as President Obama. In 2005 he helped launch Fig & Olive and over the next decade Lorange managed the company’s menu and opened seven restaurants in three states.

Crudo will be located across from the internationally renowned shopping center and by South Coast Plaza’s three office towers, joining a vibrant dining scene that includes the newly opened flagship Water Grill and the critically acclaimed Vaca from “Top Chef” finalist Amar Santana. It will occupy the space that formerly housed Patina Restaurant Group’s Pinot Provence. The restaurant, which will be open for lunch and dinner, is approximately 6,000-square-feet and will seat 180. Design components will be simple and stylish, with renovations to include a newly expanded patio dining area that will feature a garden with fruit trees, such as kumquats, the Crudo logo.

In Italian, crudo means “raw,” which translates to a number of Chef Lorange’s dishes. His style features the freshest ingredients, with a focus on seafood served in simple presentations. A highlight is a trio dipping sauce selection served with several chef’s dishes, including sushi rolls and crudos. Chef Lorange replaced the traditional Asian-served ginger, wasabi and soy sauce with his trio of kumquat ginger with cilantro and olive oil; a five-spice harissa sauce, and aged balsamic vinegar with soy sauce and spices. Lorange will offer small cooking classes for both adults and children.

Crudo will be located at 686 Anton Blvd. in Costa Mesa at The Westin South Coast Plaza.
